Feedback on Upcoming ALS Update

  • Hey,

I think the upcoming update has a lot of potential, but I wanted to suggest an alternative approach that could improve gameplay realism and efficiency. Instead of requiring ALS equipment on fire apparatus, I believe firefighters trained in ALS should be able to provide patient care on scene while EMS units handle transport. This would significantly reduce scene time and allow for a more strategic allocation of resources.

Additionally, this approach would be especially beneficial in situations where ambulances are farther out or resources are stretched thin. Fire units are already first on scene in many cases, and allowing ALS-trained firefighters to provide care while waiting for transport would make the system more dynamic and realistic.

I also want to bring up the sprint EMS unit. While it was designed to fill gaps in coverage, it lacks the capacity to handle multiple patients effectively, unlike a fully staffed fire unit. Removing the sprint unit and enhancing ALS capabilities for fire personnel would streamline operations and better reflect real-life emergency response strategies.

Thanks for considering this feedback! I appreciate the work you’re putting into improving the game.

    Aznx

Fire Apparatus can treat patients on scene (I believe between 10 to 90% depending on vehicle type, but I'm not confirmed on that)

The Fly-Car is not only used to treat non-transportable patients and release them, but it also acts as a ALS upgrade for a BLS transport unit to transport an ALS patient.

In addition, not all services run a fire-EMS combined service, so removing the Fly-Car would break numerous setups.

Fire Apparatus Treatment Percentages While fire units can treat patients to varying degrees, the current system doesn't fully reflect how ALS-trained firefighters operate in real life. In many real-world departments, ALS-trained firefighters provide full prehospital care until transport arrives. Expanding this functionality in-game would allow fire units to operate more effectively in high-demand situations rather than being restricted by arbitrary treatment percentages.

Fly-Car vs. ALS Fire Units –While the Fly-Car (Sprint EMS unit) does help upgrade BLS transport units, it still has significant limitations. It cannot effectively manage multiple patients on larger incidents, whereas a properly staffed fire unit with ALS capability can provide sustained care for multiple victims until transport units arrive. Relying on the Fly-Car for ALS coverage creates inefficiencies, especially in rural or high-call-volume areas where fire units are the first responders.

Fire-EMS Combined Services I understand that not all agencies integrate Fire and EMS, but many large metropolitan and suburban departments do, and the game already accommodates different agency structures. This change would not force a fire-based EMS model on players but rather provide an option for those who use it in real-world setups. Keeping the Fly-Car as an option while enhancing ALS fire units would allow for both styles of play, maintaining flexibility without "breaking" existing setups.
