question about the coast guard and lifeguards

What's the difference between all these facilities? What vehicles do they have and what missions do they perform? I'm not from the United States, and I'm wondering before buying one in the coastal area.

In my area of the US:

Rescue boat docks - dont exist, but are water ambulances

Fire boat dock - as it sounds. fire boats

Costal Rescue Stations (applies to the costal rescue school and costal air station) - US Coast Guard mainly. Mainly do lifesaving, ship inspection, and drug interdiction.

Lifeguard post - usually run by the city or counties it resides in.
