Many fire departments in the US operate dedicated truck companies with no water or foam capability, and the platform truck fits the role of it perfectly. However, the maximum crew is restricted to 3, whilst departments operate 4/5/6 member truck companies. It’s a very small change but would bring great benefit and make it slightly more realistic. Thank you for such a great game

Agree... Has been brought up multiple times in the past with no success at changing.. but is a good idea

I agree, some departments with LightForces have all the personnel on the truck/ladder and the engineer follows to the scene with the pumper engine

I feel like at this point one of the moderators needs to pin this somewhere.
This was trialed in the past (amongst other staffing changes). It has been brought up reintroducing it in the past, including by me.ThreadRe-introduce the previous crew increases for apparatus
Back towards the beginning of July crew sizes were increased as follows (from what I remember)
Engines from 6>10
Rescues 4>6
Trucks 3>6
Rescue Engines/Quints 6>10
I understand that they were removed due to people having issues with how they were implemented (Vehicle crews). If there was a way for them to be re-implemented so that pre-existing apparatus wouldn't be affected by default there shouldn't be as many issues.Teddy_SaladDecember 30, 2021 at 7:57 PM
As one of the replies to my post from an Admin says, "Honestly the chance of getting this reversed it slim because people complained to the devs about it when it was implemented. The crew limits when raised were never mandatory and only automatically changed crew on vehicles that hadn’t been edited. The chance of getting this changed back is now very minimum due to outrage the first time around. The devs reversed that change without even consulting the US team and are unlikely to change it again." -

I feel it’s such a necessary change, and I don’t see reason for the backlash when it was previously trialled. We’ll just have to keep trying I guess

The backlash was because all rigs default to the maximum for staffing. The change, which did not have any announcement before it, made every Type 1 Engine/Rescue Engine/Quint go from 6 to 10 and every Platform/Heavy Rescue go to 6 personnel unless you had manually changed what it was set to.
This caused issues for the people who had large setups (hundreds of stations, thousands of units) since they would have to go through and change each unit individually to whatever staffing they wanted it to be and, if they hadn't assigned personnel to rigs, could have resulted in rigs going out "over staffed" making other rigs unavailable until they fixed it and the "over staffed" rig returned.
It is easy to tell many people that play this game are actually in the fire service since they hate both change and the way things are. -

It's very difficult to go back and change existing units personnel levels due to the impact that has on everyone that has already been playing. Now suddenly they need more personnel for these units they already have.
Myself for example, I have Thousands of units. This would create an enormous change in staffing for my stations. Recruiting to meet the new level would take months, and it would take countless hours for me to go through and change the specific staffing on each unit.

Oh I understand. That’s a headache
