• Hi,

I’ve noticed a few mission and unit placement issues that could really improve the realism of the game if adjusted:

Water missions – they should only spawn on water. I’ve also seen boats traveling across the map instead of staying on water routes.

Wildfires – it would be more realistic if they only spawned in wooded areas.

Airport missions – these should be limited to airport zones.

Another suggestion is about vehicle organization:

Fire already has a special tab for its specialized vehicles. It would be helpful if police also had their own tab, with sub-options (like FBI, water units, etc.). A dropdown menu from the main tab would keep it simple but make organizing much easier. And just a small request: lowering the credit costs would really help players when buying things.

Overall though, I just want to say thank you for this game—it means a lot to me and many others. These changes would make the gameplay more realistic and enjoyable, but it’s already amazing as is!

    Thanks again!

  • All of this has been brought up before with the following explanations if my memory is correct

    • The mapping system can not tell where there is water or land in this game. If you have coastal stations you can go into edit and drag your coverage area for spawning missions out into the water
    • Same for Wildland..... you can adjust your mission spawn area by dragging it to where you want the missions....again, the mapping system in use does not know difference between urban, city and rural
    • For Airport missions make the spawning area as small as possible so the missions will spawn in a smaller area
    • If you are using LSSM V4 you can go into settings under "extended alarm Window and make your own tabs and even better define your fire units if you want

  • I agree with you about water missions. The game could support that kind of feature, as it uses OpenStreetMap data and it's possible, using their API, to query whether a given point is water or not - this kind of check could be added to the mission generation code to elimate that kind of erroneous spawning. It's just a question of whether or not they're willing to spend the dev time adding it (they'd probably want/need to work out a caching system for the data).

  • The map software can support it if they add the functionality.

They use OpenStreetMap for routing and for points of interest, and as I explained it is possible to query OpenStreetMap (in code) to see what exists at any point on the globe. They could, if they decided it was worth their development time, implement a check in the mission generation logic to query OpenStreetMap to determine whether the point of generation was water or not.

As with almost any suggestion of something that's not in the game, it is not possible for them to simply press a button and have that feature work. But it is possible they could add it to the game's code, if they felt the benefit was great enough.

  • Just like they could probably implement a check as to whether a given point is urban/residential, industrial, etc to help with mission spawning. People would probably want an opt-in option for that, as it would likely limit missions a little bit
