Apperatus Modification

  • So something the German Server introduced Recently is the ability to modify certain units we could use that same system as I feel like it would allow more realism for unit types. After doing some thinking I believe the filling is a good starting point (all units are modified for a cost based off the base price and are OOS for a 2 day period)(also other than tank capacity you can change Pump Capacity and foam amount (and the kicker I have solved the issue with the Personel update that was removed as some but not all units could be given extra crew space we could finally get 10 man engines, 6 man trucks, and more)

    T1 Engines

    Tank Capacity: 500-1000 Gallons

    Rescue Engines

    Tank Capacity: 500-1500

(My reason for this is based off of 2 specific units South Metro Fire Engine 40, and the Antarctic FD)

    Tankers

    1000-5000

    Pumper Tankers

    1000-2500

(This is just because I think the 2500 is good I don’t think I have seen real Pumper Tankers that are more than 2500 gallon tanks (yes there are tankers that have more 2500 gallon tanks that have pumps but those are true tankers not pumper tankers)

  • personally I've never seen a 10 man cab but the Peirce Velocity is rated for 10 personnel, commonly 7-8 is the larger seating capacity. Larger seating capacity was introduced a few years back and it didn't last long, i think it was just a poor execution and people complained, I was all for it.

  • I think this is kind of a solution in search of a problem. As it stands there are ways to work around what you are wanting to introduce. There are enough things that people are asking for to be fixed that are already in the game, adding another mechanic that can break the game/for people to complain about isn't the best idea at this time.

THAT BEING SAID, here is what I think on each point individually.

You can see here why this was undone (It is a comment of mine from the past explaining the issues and backlash and why the staffing increases will likely not be seen again on the US, at least for a while.

RE: Increasing maximum Platform truck crew number

    T1 Engines

    Tank Capacity: 500-1000 Gallons

All I'll say is that there would have to be a system where the more water you have the less storage and vise-versa

    Rescue Engines

    Tank Capacity: 500-1500

(My reason for this is based off of 2 specific units South Metro Fire Engine 40, and the Antarctic FD)

The South Metro Engine in question (which is no longer in frontline service) would be more of a Pumper Tanker (which I use in game for similar engines) or a Type 1 with a larger tank as, to my knowledge, it carries no rescue/extrication equipment that would not be found on a regular engine. (I have no comment on the Antartic Engine beyond allowing Pumper Tankers to carry Heavy rescue Equipment as a workaround). I could even see going lower in tank capacity (down to like 300) as a way to run a "Wet Rescue" that some places have.

    Tankers

    1000-5000

The largest tenders (tankers) I have heard of are 4000 gallons (unless you get into the tractor-trailer ones) I think 5000 gallons is a little much with how rare the 4000 gallon ones are, which are the largest offered by most manufacturers. From a realism stand point, I feel a 5000 gallon tender for a single truck is a bit much. A decent amount of the time rural water supply is done on less maintained roads, and now you're bringing 41,700 lbs (20.85 tons) in just water down the road.

    Pumper Tankers

    1000-2500

(This is just because I think the 2500 is good I don’t think I have seen real Pumper Tankers that are more than 2500 gallon tanks (yes there are tankers that have more 2500 gallon tanks that have pumps but those are true tankers not pumper tankers

Again, no real complaints or comments, you're not really going to see over 2500 gallons outside of rare industrial applications

Again, while I don't see it as the best idea, an alternate way I could see this working once the current system is fixed and finalized is a new way of buying vehicles where you start with a "blank" truck and have options for:

    Seating
    Water tank
    Pump Capacity
    Foam Tank
Storage (Whether filled now or not)
[other items that can affect it]

And then based on those options it tells you what role(s) it can fill and then the only thing you can change at a later date is what is stored for equipment (designs could be saved to save time in future purchases).
