Help, refresh and old dogs memory

  • I am returning to game after a good bit off, yes I occasionally jumped on but just couldn't get back into things. Anyway, came back about 2 weeks ago and back enjoying playing. Not doing the crazy all day sessions again (yet) but more just jumping on when I can.

    Anyway. Few questions.

    1. SAR Service.
      1. Mountain Rescue building, that's clearly new to me, I built all my SAR including Mountain Rescue bases using what's now the SAR HQ building. What's the difference between the two.
      2. SAR Vehicles I kinda left the game just as I started activating SAR. I have totally forgotten what each vehicle and trailer is and if there are any cross overs where one vehicle does both and if there is any links to other services.
    2. Medical Service, I've noticed a few new bits.
      1. GP Buildings do they generate calls (I've built some local ones but not activated them)
      2. The new education and new vehicles, I will need to do a lot of training of staff to get people qualified. Is there any downfalls here where I get a set number of staff I then get the calls for them or can I train then once everyone is trained add in the vehicles.
      3. Transports, I am not getting any patinet transports from clinics.
      4. Has HEMS been fixed or does activating it get us the old issue of almost every call needing a HEMS response.
    3. Police Service, it looks almost the same as when I left. Is there anything majorly different here. I am still going through making sure I have everything in place as public order is still a mess but it's improving.
    4. Fire service, that looks more or less the same and nothing new.
    5. Drones I know these were added when I was playing but I have never really looked into using them yet. I see Police, Fire and SAR has them (not noticed any in the Medical side) are they worth getting? do they have any stand alone calls? I was using Police Helis to cover.
    6. Is there any other things that I need to be aware of.

Yes, see the Possible Missions selecting GP Surgery
However given the high volume of GP Surgery buildings it can result in a ridiculous ratio of missions

Instead I have used the NHS Care website to assign those with specialist Midwife units
I then built up the cluster to about 10%
This then results in a more realistic ratio of missions

These are generated from Urgent Treatment Centre (I have classed mine as A&E for easy identification from a Hospital
There is a maximum of two per Urgent Treatment Centre
However take care as this is bi-directional
The ideal distance outward is about 10km
Higher than this then I assign additional PTS (BLS) to an Ambulance Station
In most cases two is sufficient

    Railway Police
    This is easy enough
I have tested a few setups and I have posted details on how to setup BTP

    Railway Fire
There is a Rail Road vehicle
Effectively it is a Network Rail vehicle
    Therefore not strictly Fire service

Urgent Treatment Centers were clinics that much I do know.

I used to get several of these as I have a good few set up as MIU and UTC before they changed the name of them.

Ah great so that's going to be interesting for me then as midwifery care is hospital centric with clinics in GP practices. So I'm going to have to play around with this to get it working

This is what brought me back, and it's a very simple addition. Won't be using railway fire as think it's an utterly pointless addition as there is only one railway fire unit in the UK. Just another of those clear additions that isn't needed and the Devs could have spent time fixing other issues.

    Apologies if I misunderstood this
Sadly Hospitals cannot have vehicles assigned
    They do have Maternity extensions
GP Surgery can have the Midwife vehicle
Therefore both of these buildings can be combined to meet your requirements

As above, I already do this with Urgent Treatment Centre and Hospital
This then means the Hospital has two PTS, although the missions are created by the Urgent Treatment Centre

By placing the GP Surgery with the Urgent Treatment Centre this would create a similar campus

As an aside, I have all the GP Surgery for NHS Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire
When I activated all those with Midwife units it was nothing short of chaos!

  • Won't be using railway fire as think it's an utterly pointless addition as there is only one railway fire unit in the UK

I am currently working on a configuration for this
My first attempt failed as I could not reassign the RRU to the building
Equally, the Fire Station is an incredibly expensive building once you have covered most of Scotland!

I am attempting to have a Network Rail Support Centre building
Hopefully with other vehicles and staff this can be expanded upon

  • I know it's extremely expensive I'm around 900k for a small station now.

I am not bothering with the railway fire unit for now, just feel it's only been added to please certain people even the addition of MOMs is a bit out of scope.

Now we have that and other non emergency dispatch things in game I am hoping we can get EOD and more specialist police around water policing as there are dive units, specialist boat policing and more than could be done with police.

They do, but the same missions can be generated by Urgent treatment centre extension or Ambo Station extension. I personally opted for the UTCs at the moment as I didnt really want to deploy all those GP surgerys

The new education and new vehicles, I will need to do a lot of training of staff to get people qualified. Is there any downfalls here where I get a set number of staff I then get the calls for them or can I train then once everyone is trained add in the vehicles.

The missions only spawn from the building or extensions, so they can be disabled to prevent the missions from spawning. I didnt hit any issues during deployment. Only word of caution is that a lot of the midwife missions need 2x midwife units which is a really annoying bottleneck at times

Transports, I am not getting any patinet transports from clinics.

I have no idea for this. I have a large set up as you know, but I only get about 10, I have no idea how it works.

Has HEMS been fixed or does activating it get us the old issue of almost every call needing a HEMS response.

Nope. Still not "needed" for anything. I just dispatch them for fun sometimes

Police Service, it looks almost the same as when I left. Is there anything majorly different here. I am still going through making sure I have everything in place as public order is still a mess but it's improving.

Only relatively recent addition beyond the train stuff is drones I think. Which can sub for NPAS.

Fire service, that looks more or less the same and nothing new.

Yeah, I dont think that has changed recently except for the rural/urban specializations

Drones I know these were added when I was playing but I have never really looked into using them yet. I see Police, Fire and SAR has them (not noticed any in the Medical side) are they worth getting? do they have any stand alone calls? I was using Police Helis to cover.

I have yet to find the need for them as I have quite decent NPAS coverage, I guess they are just a cheaper way to cover those calls for newer players for the most part, but I can see them also being handy if there is a bottleneck, but missions needing NPAS are quite rare at the moment.

SAR Vehicles I kinda left the game just as I started activating SAR. I have totally forgotten what each vehicle and trailer is and if there are any cross overs where one vehicle does both and if there is any links to other services.

I dont think so unfortunately. I think the Personal SAR vehicle in HRLs has a bit of an overlap, but overall it seems to be entirely seperate which is kinda a shame. Makes it very annoying to manage ARRs, as its easy to select the wrong unit. Kinda wish they do an overhaul at some point

  • large set up as you know, but I only get about 10, I have no idea how it works.

Agreed it took some to work out the requirements, but mine works perfectly now

I believe I have now found a solution to this issue
Here in Scotland there has been a change from local GP Surgeries to Hospitals wihich have an Obstetrics Department where the Midwifery staff are then based
This then makes it seamless throughout child birth

Over the next few days I am going to -
Create new GP Surgeries, at the existing Hospital locations, named Hospital Midwife Department
Move the Midwife staff and vehicle
    Downgrade the original GP Surgeries
