[Fix In Progress] Batallion Chief ARRs Broken - Radio Equipment potential cause

  • I recently noticed my Batallion Chief ARR stopped registering the existance of Batallion Chief units.

This started within the last week or so. Potentially with the Dispatch Center loading improvements.

I first noticed it within the last week, but initially assumed it was because I had set about half of my Batallion Chief (BC) units to out of service (6) as I was adding Radio equipment to them and training the assigned staff in Mobile Command.

I thought the "missing x BC units" errors were just that I had run out of available units. Now that that training has finished and I put them all back in service (2) I noticed a simple ARR I have for just one BC unit showed none available. (X)

    Diag steps:

I created a new ARR, selected 1 batallion chief from the firefighting tab. Saved it, and it worked the same as the existing ARR. (Not working.)

I tried removing the radio equipment and changing to non trained staff from a BC unit. No change.

I show 62 BC units in the dispatch center statistics tab.

Using "Own Vehicle Category" and creating a name for a BC unit also does not work.

I can manually dispatch the BC unit by selecting from the unit list.

Yes I click "load more vehicles" every time before testing.

I would typically include screenshots, however with the lack of communication in this bugs section, I feel like it will be a wast of time, and that devs won't see it. If they're desired, please ask and i'll add them.

  • Another recent ARR post. Potentially unrelated. Temp fix is to avoid [ ] or { } in custom vehicle type names.

  • NEW INFO:

Assigning Radio Equipment to the batallion chief unit makes it unable to be dispatched by ARR.

Based on this new info, this may have been an issue longer than the dispatch center update.

Confirmed with another user on Facebook that asked if I had added radio equipment to the batallion chief units. They had issues with that. So I checked again.

I indeed did. I thought I had tested by removing the radio equipment from a chief unit, when I first reported the issue, but something may have gone wrong with my test.

I tested yesterday and opened the storage tab on a fire station, and unassigned radio equipment from that chief unit. I kept the same assigned staff. (2 trained in Mobile Command) That unit was now recognized by the ARR system and could be properly dispatched. Assigning radio equipment again repeated the issue. Could not dispatch.

The timing of the issue where I mention approx 1 week aligns with me starting to train my chief units in Mobile Command and adding Radio Equipment.

I have 62 chiefs. I was training 2 people per chief unit, so about 20 units at a time. I would take them out of service, (Status 6) Buy and assign radio equipment and start their training. As the training finished, I'd check staff and equipment attached and put back in service. (status 2)

I had noticed I had less chief units available, but had assumed that was because I had some out of service training. I did not notice the completed ones were unavailable, until all 62 were trained up and no chiefs could be dispatched.

I will now try assigning the same purchased radio equipment to other non chief units to test if they work.

  • I reassigned 2x Mobile Command people to a crew carrier and assigned radio equipment to it. It was successfully dispatched. The chief unit I removed the radio from could now dispatch. Other chief units could not.

Repeated test with Utility Rescue (Uses custom group name "Rescue") Same results as Crew Carrier above.

Repeated test with Heavy Rescue (Uses custom group name "Rescue") Same results as Crew Carrier and Utility Rescue.

These are all the units I own that list the ability to carry radio equipment per the equipment market screen. Only Batallion Chief has this issue.

  • This morning, I did get a comment reply on a favebook post that the issue was being looked at. Copying here to keep this updated.

  • I had this issue too. So I made a custom vehicle category called “Deputy Chief” for my battalion chiefs with radios. I use them when I don’t have another BC or MCV available. It works for the areas I’m set up in because they’re all paid departments with actual deputy chiefs (or equivalent).

  • I just tested this and a custom name now works. I'm not sure if something changed between now and when I originally reported it or if I missed something when initially testing. I typically play before bed so I was probably tired.

I could possibly use this as a temporary workaround, except I also have ARRs for most of the missions so that'd be too much to change. I'd just read the number of chiefs missing error then dispatch them under the custom temp name.

I think I might unassign the radios for now until it gets resolved.
