Hello all,
I want to preface this by confirming that there is NO current developer-planned upcoming police content pack for CID (Criminal Investigation Department) for the UK branch of MissionChief (to my knowledge). This thread is designed to gather community feedback, expectations and ideas BEFORE the developers begin planning for one.
I know this hasn’t been done for other policing updates, however CID is a huge part of policing that hasn’t been touched and is complex enough that I’d be keen to see what the player-base wants from a new update when it eventually comes.
I have deliberately missed out:
- Collision investigation
- Forensics
- Serious and organised crime
- Counter-terrorism
These are not expected to feature in an initial investigations content pack due to the level of detail I am hoping can be put into it.
That being said, I have some questions for the community, which I would appreciate as much feedback from as possible. Particular feedback is sought from any players with some sort of background or experience in policing.
1. Gameplay:
- How would you expect / envisage CID to exist in-game?
- What training and vehicles would you expect?
- What extensions?
- How would you price it all?
- What would the requirements be at missions?
On a serious note, CID in real life will often deal with some of the most unpleasant crime (see below). I am aware of the community’s wide-ranging views on sensitivity and what is appropriate for the game. (This has been made clear especially on the mental health front which I am not going into, but suffice it to say was withdrawn from the game less than 24 hours after implementation due to negative community feedback on all channels.)
To give a very brief / generalised overview of CID, (excluding serious and organised crime), there are several distinct categories within it:
- Volume Crime / Local Investigations
- Burglary
- Robbery
- Serious Injury Assaults
- Public Protection
- High risk domestic violence
- Modern Day Slavery
- Exploitation
- Serious sexual offences
- Major Crime
- Homicide
- Suspicious deaths
- Kidnapping
- Other
- Offender management
- Economic crime
- Cyber crime
(This list is far from exhaustive, and you can find detectives in a variety of non-CID departments, and regular police officers within most branches of CID.)
My follow-up question now you’ve read the above, is:
2. Mission Content:
- What crime types do you want to see?
- What types of missions would you be comfortable with?
- What types of missions would you be uncomfortable with?
I would like to see positive and negative responses, that is what you would AND would not like to see. If you didn’t understand anything in this post, need clarification or feel I’ve missed something, please post below or if you want to contact me privately about this, you’re welcome to do so. I’m aware it won’t be identical to force structures as I need it to encompass the whole UK.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post thoroughly and respond accordingly.

For those of you who don’t know me, (given how active I am, I imagine most of you do), I’m the police content advisor for the UK version of MissionChief. My role is to try and give the developers of the game a realistic UK reference point for all policing content in the game. I’m a volunteer like the other advisors and do this in my spare time, because I want to help this game become the best version of itself possible. I can only do this with the help of you, the community.
