New Cell Van too Expensive

  • The new update brought with it a Cell Van or PTV - this is a great additon and I have wanted it for a while however, the cost is completely out of wack when compared to other vehicles:

Currently the policng units are priced as:

    IRV - 5k
    DSU and ARV - 7K
    JRU - 6k
    Traffic - 10k Armed 19k
    PSU - 8k

In my opinion this makes the new cell van egregiously priced at 20k, as it is a slight upgrade to the IRV for 4x the cost. Aswell as unbalanced with the PSU which can carry far more, for less. Id rcommend a new price of 6-7k instead.

  • The cell Van has been deliberately priced to avoid overuse. It can carry double the number of prisoners as an IRV or PSU, and more than double the number of officers as an IRV (more than half that of the PSU).

I initially recommended that cell vans be capped at 1 per small station, 3 per regular and 5 per depot however that would have locked them behind an extension costing in excess of 100,000. Therefore they have been increased in price instead.

Personally, I think the PSU van is now under-priced and should really be re-priced to around 15,000 due to the prisoner carrying capacity which I also introduced. However I didn’t ask that the price go up, nor did the devs increase its price.

If you think they should all be re-balanced, you’re likely to see the majority of vehicle prices increase. Bear in mind that police missions on the UK server are some of the highest paying of all service missions on the UK server. You’ll earn the cell van cost back in a few missions.

  • In my opinion the issue is more consistancy, I would rather other units like ARVs, PSUs, DSUs be repriced to accomodate this. But I think 20k is extreme even so. Perhaps if both the PSU and Cell Van were 15 - and then the player could choose between the additonal prisoner, or the additonal staff! (as both count as IRVs too)

Pricing will remain as is for the reasons Whitchit has said, if anything we may revisit the cost of the PSU carrier.

If we adjusted the pricing of other units as suggested then we would have been knocked for that.

  • Do the cell van and welfare vehicle count as police cars?

The cell van does yes. Its essentially a standard policing resource - just a van with extra prisioner capacity.

The welfare im not to sure but im gonna lean towards no. These vehicles are used at long-winded incidents like stand-offs, football games etc where officers often end up on scene for hours.

Here's the BTPs one. It has a kitchenette, i believe toilets, just to deal with officers basic needs, charging ports that sort of thing. It wouldn't attend a regular policing incident like a fight or shoplifting etc etc

  • Do you know where the BTP welfare vehicles are based?

Its a national resource so it typically attends pre-planned operations so doesnt really get based anywhere if that makes sense?

Though its not Just BTP that have them, some home-office forces do to - heres Norfolk. Thames Valley and Northumbria. Others do to these are just a few. Not all forces have them, hence why its an optional resource ingame just replacing the HART, Fire ones.

Wow I live in Norfolk and I didn’t know that Norfolk constabulary had a welfare vehicle

Yep - its worth doing a little bit of googling about it. My local force haven't got one and i play realistically so i wont be using it. But i appreciate having the option. As its a very cool concept of a vehicle imo.
