Vehicle Capacity Update

  • MCU
The capacity of the mass casualty incident vehicle is decent, but very little in comparison to how many patients an IRL full size MCI bus can transport. Typically the number of patients range from a minimum of 12 and a max of 18 patients. For people who have fairly large counties and a lot of ambulances coming from a single company across the county, an MCI bus’ capacity is a big deal. For any questions about the accuracy of my numbers, you can refer to San Francisco Fire department’s MCI buses and alameda county ems agency’s bus (all were donated by bus companies)
    Platform Truck

In addition, a bit smaller tweaks to personnel in specific units, I feel like the platform truck should allow a max of 4 personnel. There are a lot of departments that do staff 4 people on a truck. Maybe not as much as those who staff 3, but it’s still a good amount. Adding this would not only help missions go a bit faster, but it can fulfill technical rescue requirements (usually 4 trained personnel are required)

    Rescue Ambulance
For the rescue ambulance, it should be decreased to 2 personnel minimum. I know of some departments that have paramedic rescues, and they only have 2 personnel running out of it, which makes sense.
    Type 5 Wildland Fire Engine

And lastly, the Type 5 engine. The maximum should become 3-4 since many type 5s are crew cabs.

  • You can change the number of people assigned to an ambulance. It does not have to be 3. If that is what your fire dept does, then simply reduce the amount. Type 5 right now carries 3 max so changing it is not a real big thing in my opinion. If you want to carry more than 3 just use the Type 4

  • if i remember correctly there was a time where vehicle max personnel was increased across the board. However it caused issues for peoples existing setups as if they haven’t changed it from the max, it would auto update to the new max. (So platforms went from 3-6) So stations would run out of personnel easily and required manually editing every single vehicle. So the changes were reversed and i doubt the devs would do it again

thanks for reminding everyone of that. I appreciate it. In short, it would create a nightmare

  • Interesting. Whelp, I guess that’s out of the question . However, I still think the mass casualty unit capacity is a very good idea. For the amount of ambulance stations you have to buy in order to get each, it seems like a waste to barely even be able to carry any patients in comparison to actual mass casualty incident buses.

I know I can change the capacity of a regular ambulance. But I don’t want a regular ambulance. I want an ALS rescue ambulance. Where my station is, there are no other rescues in the area, and I want to be able to handle calls without requiring a unit that’s like 25 minutes out.

  • You’re missing the RESCUE part. The rescue ambulance can act as a heavy rescue as well.

Ok....thanks for the explanation. I will say however, in my 55 years, I have never seen an ambulance that can transport and that is a heavy rescue. But again...thank you

I'm confused. Am I missing what a rescue ambulance is? I mean they definitely exist and rescue ambulance simply implies that it can serve as a rescue and an ambulance.
