  • Hi Everyone ! So I wanted to test the skills of those who think they are ready to manage a incident. So If you think you have what it takes then continue reading and reply. Good luck !

The alarm room has just received a call from a caller that there is heavy smoke inside a hotel building. The caller states they are evacuating the building but some people may still be in there rooms. The following has taken place

    Dispatch: Tone ...... .... ..... ..... ........................
    Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Ladder 2, Ladder 4, Heavy Rescue 3, Ambulance 61, Ambulance 3, Battalion 101, Battalion 201, Deputy Chief 1

    Smoke inside a building
    2233 E Metro Ave

Engine 3 is on scene and has taken command. Engine 3 has confirm a electrical working fire and has ask for a 1st Alarm.

We like to hear from you all on how you would properly work this call. Please make sure to start with the first arriving unit

  • as soon as the unit is on scene, there needs to be a full size up. what type of structure, its condidtion, and fire and hazardous conditions report. since it is an engine company, and there is a working fire, a line needs to be taken in to at least hold up until other companies arrive-- so don't worry about the hydrant yet. let's say the company has five: 1 man on a line, and others two going in, one with a dry chem extinguisher. the two others will stay out to meet the two in two out rule, but rescue is a priority considering there are people inside. there will also need to be an interior size up to prepare arriving companies.

after all units are one scene:

rescue 3 and ladder 4 go in to relieve engine 3 for search and rescue. ladder 2 has the priority of ventilating to reduce the risk of a backdraft and flashover. engine 3 takes a breather, and engine 1 Is now on the primary attack line, fighting the fire aggressively while search and rescue is still underway (now on secondary search). engine 4 stays outside with a defensive attack line to make sure there is 360 coverage of the building. engine 3 now drops a line and is ready to fight fire on command. they also have fireman on standby for assistance needed in any way. engine 2 is standing by for assistance, and is the backup rescue team for the ladder and rescue company inside, who by the way should be making haste with the search and getting out of the building.

tell me what I can improve on :)
