Sgt car for police

  • Yeah I agree a Sgt or Chief car would be a great addition

  • Any response requiring multiple units could easily require a supervisor to respond just like fire gets the battalion.

Totally agree, judging by the fact we already have a comparable course and vehicle on the Fire side of things, It shouldn't be too hard to integrate, a few weeks later it can then be added as a requirement for missions. Usual phased update, works very well.

  • So police sgt and command unit is something that will be added with future police updates. My question is is would players rather a dedicated sgt vehicle or would they rather sgt training so that you could have a SWAT sgt, sgt patrol car. Sgt on a motorcycle etc?

Could It be done so that the person with the SGT training is required? Allows the flexibility for both setups, you could use a normal patrol car and label it apart, but we could also assign them to any vehicle. Noted we could have SGTs for all functions. I think this method may mean there will be less of an issue with integration of this update as well, less mucking around vehicles, just reassigning a few personnel.

Honestly, Having Sgt training rather than Sgt vehicles would be great. Same for Chief. Maybe have a Chief and Sgt for ranks. Likewise for EMS and FD for Chief and Captain but one thing at a time I'm getting ahead of myself here hahaha.

The only thing though that I wanna bring up is that players would train all their officers to Sgt so that they wouldn't have to deal with strategically setting their Police Departments up. Would it be possible to have 1 Sgt for every 10 members in a station or just 5 Sgts per station? So that this wouldn't get exploited badly?

Me personally, I'd just have 2 or 3 Sgts per station for that challenge but that's just me.

I think from a game standpoint to keep it realistic we should be limited on Sgt positions per station.

I see your point on the exploitation, but I honestly don't think most people would go to that effort, yes they could do that, but at the same time only one would be required relatively less and the benfit to training such a large number of personnel would most likely limit someone's chances of expanding. I don't think it should be therefore neccessary to implement a limit on them.

  • I'm very much in support of this, large or serious callouts IRL require supervisors and would be a great addition.

I personally prefer Sergeant/Supervisor training instead of vehicles so that the Academy is utilized more, in Victoria Australia I know Sergeants patrol in a certain vehicle, on the other hand sometimes Sergeants in NSW can patrol with other officers in any type of vehicle. Fortunately we can apply individual graphics to individual vehicles and apply a unique callsign.

This could also open up Police Incident Command training for the most extreme incidents, such as Hostage Situations, Mass Shootings, Huge Riots, any situations requiring many specialised units. Incident Command training could also simulate the ranks for Inspector/Superintendent/Commander or higher.

I obviously don't expect this to happen anytime soon because of the current focus on EMS callouts, but it is exciting to discuss what could be added to MissionChief in the future.

  • That is a good point on the command side of things, I'd much prefer as you said to have a different course and therefore a different type of personnel required for those incidents as a police SGT wouldn't cut it. I feel as if a SGT should be required now and again on normal calls, maybe a 20% requirement, so as to provide sufficient use in a fairly realistic capacity but obviously not all the time.

  • I would go with supervisor training being required for a police/ems unit and not a specific unit. With fire the unit itself serves a purpose whereas in the other disciplines a supervisor can be on a normal unit and accomplish the same things. I would also just call it "Supervisor" and not specify ranks.
