Inaccuracy in the UK Version

  • Hello,

    So recently I have been considering making the switch to .co.uk even though I have about 37 fire stations on the .com version. I was just wondering about these crew capacities and as to why the Breathing apparatus pumps and water tankers are separate? What service is this based off of because this does not seem accurate. A 9 crew vehicle? The London Fire Brigade only has a 6 crew and that is the new Mercedes MK3's; Just wondering, If anyone is looking to start a British based Missionchief account, please do it on .com as it is a bit more accurate to international firefighting. You will be able to assign what vehicle you wan't for what. For example I have made:

    Type 1 Fire Engine = DPL Pump
    Platform Truck = ALP/TL
    Battalion Chief Unit = Station/Borough Commander
    Heavy Rescue Unit = Fire Rescue Unit
    Mobile Air & Utility = Bulk Foam Unit, Hose Layer Unit, Operational Support Unit, Personnel Carriers
    Water Tanker = Water Tanker
    Hazmat = CBRN (IRU)
    MCV = Mobile Command Unit

    This is my set up, works fine for me, what are your thoughts for any changes I could make?

  • There are some services in the UK that are or are planning to run with 9 on a pump. Scotland and Norfolk to name a few. The crewing levels are a maximum not a minimum. You can have as low as 1 on a pump if you really wanted to. The UK varies and London is definitely not to be used as representative of the other services in the UK. Water tanker is used by almost every service outside london and can be used as a Hose Layer, or HVP. Breathing apparatus units are used by the London Fire Brigade based out of BDC croydon and are RPE units

  • If you are based in the UK, don't setup on the .com version as mentioned above, instead on the .co.uk version.

    The UK version will be receiving a large in depth medical expansion that has been influenced by real life medical workers in the UK, so will obviously be very realistic.

    In regards to pumps of 9, Scottish Fire and Resuce run pumps of 9, and Norfolk FRS will be trialing running pumps of nine next year. And remember, you can choose how many people run on each appliance! You can set it however high or low you want...

    Breathing apparatus pumps and water tanker sare separate, as they are completely different In real life. Examples below...

    Suffolk Fire and Rescue OSU - Equivalent of a BASU - Carries spare BA and extra specialist equipment. BASU Could also be used as a British red Cross FESU, used for supporting victims of fire related incidents etc.

    Suffolk Fire and Rescue Water Carrier - Carries large amounts of water to Large jobs, e.g. heath fires, field fires

  • So in terms of Accuracy the Game will get more accurate as time goes on, the current fire calls that have been released have all been made from real UK responses from a service within the UK. The medical update in the works is being made to be most realistic it can get to the UK with help from a member of the Ambulance Service. I imagine the Police side of things will be updated at some point and again i would imagine someone is in the pipeline to help with that.

    In terms of crews many services run different crewing levels from 4 - 9 and even 3 on smaller L4T units. Some units can't be added as a user owned vehicle eg a set EPU unit as some services don't always have a EPU and instead use other vehicles, one such example being Cambridgeshire's ISU unit which replaced the IRU they had, " I will add the IRU units have mostly all been decommissioned now due to there age and cost".

    So having a hose layer added as a unit would mean that players who's area's don't have a set HLU or even a HVP won't be able to have a accurate realistic set up. Hence why just keeping a Water Carrier as it is and renaming it to a HVP is more feasible to most.

    So by saying make a account on ".com" for a better UK experience i would say is a tad silly as the ".co.uk" will soon be the better option to people.

  • I am saying this from my perspective and I merely asked where the inspiration was from. You answered that. I did not use the London Fire Brigade as a representative of every fire service in the UK, I used it as an example as this is what I am used and I am confident speaking about it. For me, the .co.uk version is just not accurate but this is socially defined as per your geographical location. Also, the Breathing Apparatus Unit is meant to represent the RPE unit and not just specialized crew in breathing apparatus? I suppose that makes more sense.

  • Afternoon Mr Hopkins. You might remember me from years ago **cough cough** xbox.

    While I'm not active much on this forum. However, I will strictly disagree with you. Surprisingly, as far as assets and development. co.uk version is highly better for UK play-style rather then US. But you do you. BASU is something that is highly used and each service may call it different things. Ultimately, the game won't tailor every service.

    For example, my area doesn't have a CARP. Does that mean it SHOULDN'T be in the game... hell no. Same principle with naming stuff.

  • I've spent over four years on MC.com (US) and have built up a coverage across most of South and Mid Wales with all services used (including some custom additions of CG rescue and Mountain Rescue). The thought of starting out again on MC.uk demoralises me. I've spent millions on my existing setup and can't face doing it all again to be honest.

    Although the vast majority of us who switched from US to UK had large setups, it can be a refreshing start for both players and alliances. It's nice to see so many have come over. Remember that you can expand much quicker by starting fresh because of the small station buildings. Perhaps if there's something on the US game you think you could've done differently, now is a great time to start. You're right though, we all spent millions on our setups on the US game but do remember that the mission requirements are now much more suited to UK requirements where possible. The medical update, though I can't provide a status update, is currently being worked on which will be robust and differ from that in the US game. Things do take time but the game has come a decent way since it was first released in September.

    I had ambulance and fire in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire. I've now got fire, police and ambulance in Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight on the same scale as where I left off.

    I see the point but I can't find the enthusiasm to start again on a new game. I started on MC US when I was recovering from a MH crisis. It helped me rebuild myself alongside building up the game. The thought of doing so again, puts me off.
