Question: Do rescue engines fulfill the requirement for both apparatus types at the same time for a mission, or do they only count towards one requirement or the other?

Both same time. Same situation for a quint or pumper tanker.

Rescue Engines serve the Fire Suppression , and Rescue Auto-Extraction. Like Grubber33270 has said it goes for the same for Quint's or Pumper tanker, But when i play Rescue Engines can also serve as a Heavy Rescue, or Light Rescue / Etc.
