water rescue

  • On the topic of Water Rescue, would there be any chance of HART/SORT teams getting a form of this? I'm not sure for HART but here in Scotland SORT's Water Rescue units (attached) are integral to the service. However, I'm not sure if this would just be denied due to it being somewhat a replicated version of Fire & Rescue's Unit. And while I could understand that point of view it would also be fairly useful to have SORT teams immediately on-scene after conducting a Water Rescue, it adds to the realism in a way and wouldn't need too much work put into it once Fire & Rescue have gotten the basics of it done for them.

I don't know if this would be perceived as some gimmicky specialist unit though, which is why I bring it up.

  • Oh right, I'm fairly new to forums so I don't know a lot about who's who yet. However, I thought making an account to chip in with ideas and stuff would be a good idea since I have a fairly expansive knowledge of the Scottish Ambulance Service (Specifically SORT).

I've been really happy with how quick I've gotten responses and how interactive the Staff has been and I hope I can bring some good ideas and opinions to the table.

Ah the person I @ed was the ambulance advisor 😊

  • I have no doubt that HART/SORT water rescue will be implemented. I also have no doubt it’ll be months if not over a year before the devs begin work on it. The major updates are not that regular and I know that water rescue is something being looked at as a way to set MCUK and MCUS apart. I believe TACRfan said: it’s something they wanted to do right and do well, much like when airport fire & rescue gets brought up.

  • I am sure Alctw10 would be happy to tell you about this

    Thanks 👍

So I am one of the Ambulance advisors and my background is also coastguard rescue.

So in terms of HART/SORT and water rescue..

HART are not a dedicated rescue service, in the event of water/cliff/mud rescue they would simply embed themselves into rescue teams from Fire, HMCG, Lowland SAR etc.

HART carry their water rescue PPE and equipment on their response vehicles, in terms of MCUK these would be the PRVs and SRVs.

There is no requirement to look into water rescue for the Ambulance service/HART in MCUK.

Water rescue will be looked at in the game for the Fire service and there are plans to hopefully in the future look at Coastguard Rescue and Lifeboats.

  • When water rescue is added I would like to see HART Units as a requirment for water rescue calls ( but not all the time)

  • I would like to see a SORT version of a water rescue unit (optional) as in Scotland they have SORT water rescue units and I personally wouldn't mind using them in my Kent set up could be a expansion to HART bases

HART/SORT is responsible for many things, swift water rescue is part of their skill set and they don’t necessarily have a specific vehicle for it, some trusts me, however most have the vehicles equipped to deal with everything from terrorism to water. If they are out of station e.g. returning from a call they need to be able to divert to a new incident and if they had to go back to the station to swap a vehicle that would cause issues irl.

SORT in Scotland does have dedicated Water Rescue Units, not sure which SORT you're referring to but thought I'd bring it up again. (pic attached once again).

This is a major part of Scotland's SORT, which is just as important as HART. Since these Water Rescue units are important to an entire country it makes sense to have a dedicated vehicle.

  • If this covers the entire UK does it not make sense to have the appropriate units available for each country within the UK? SORT (Scotland's SORT) should be represented just as much as England + Wales' HART/SORT teams are. It seems things like this are very focused on England and Wales' systems and teams.
