Unit Requirements

  • I’m discovering more and more missions which just have completely backwards unit requirements. To be honest I think every mission needs to be updated. I understand devs are working hard to advance the game but it’s better to have strong foundations before adding more.

For example thatched cottage fires require a lot of units, why? Back pain very frequently requires HEMS.

These are just two missions of the top of my head but there are many more that have ridiculous units requests

No they are realistic requirements for the whole UK, Back pain requiring hems is stupid but it's bc the mission came with hems but the hems requirement will most likely be removed for all calls.

  • Also, the amount of fire officers required for some calls. On the US version I felt the requirements were normal but now I’m on the UK version I feel it way out of proportion. A lot of calls require the same amount of fire officers as fire engines. At this point I may as well just put an officer in every single station.

The reason is FOs and Battlion Cheifs are different very different the reason you need many as FOs aren't command units they are transport vehicles for officers (Hazmat commander 4 L2 commanders 1 L3 Command 1 L4 Command and a Tactical advisor) i would argue there should be more like 6 Not 4 but hey ho

  • The requirements are based on real life PDA’s for several fire services. I have been at a MP3 house fire where there has been 3 officers on scene. In the US a battalion chief is a command unit, as goochy says in the U.K. they are just transport vehicles.

You have many different roles for fire officers on scene from Hazmat, Tac-Ad, IC etc

Larger incidents require a number of L2-L4 officers to undertake a variety of roles. With one officer per vehicle, it is entirely normal to see a number of them lined up or dotted around an incident ground. Sometimes the number of officer vehicles will supersede pumps, it's not unusual.

regarding officers at thatched fires they are currently at a realistic level & in most cases can be higher in real life, you’ve got to consider you’ve got 8 pumping appliances + specialist appliances and an incident of that size would of been sectioned into smaller chunks with officers in command officers for monitoring etc. So just to put it into perspective quite a few brigades on reports of a thatched fire automatically add 6 pumping appliances and multiple officers as a pre determined attendance due to such high risk thatched fires can propose with spread, environmental impacts & incident duration.

I personally feel most missions are good for requirements but what has always shocked me is how the house fires require 0 FOs

The requirement is based on the fact that the officer in charge of the pump can manage the scene, when it escalates to a persons reported house fire it then requires the higher incident command level
