Broken Ankle

  • I have issues with this call
its transport rate is 70% which is far far to high and the code says fly car ad handle: 100% so the transport rate really makes no sense if you want rrvs to be able to handle.
even the seizure is 50% so a broken ankle would maybe be 5 as patients tend to make own way to hospital

also this call is quite silly like calls like broken leg or spine is more what we need rather then a ANKLE

  • People still call ambulances for broken ankles despite you thinking its silly, a broken ankle is not a minor break depending on how its broken, and the chances are if an ambulance is called, they will take you to A&E and leave you in the waiting room. People should make their own way to hospital for minor things, but the reality is they dont!

  • Patients may be triaged and be given a low priority and have to wait hours, but they are rarely refused. They may then choose to transport themselves. Depending on a break, a broken ankle can be considered a serious injury sometimes requiring even HEMS, for example if it’s an open fracture.
