ARRs and GPs

  • what the heck do all those abbreviations mean

ARR: Alarm and Response Regulation - in-game this is a set of customisable buttons which alert one or more vehicles of your choice.

RRV: Rapid Response Vehicle - usually a car or motorbike crewed by a single paramedic, designed to reach serious incidents faster in real life. In-game, it can sometimes clear patients who do not require transport to a hospital. In-game, the single paramedic can be trained in Critical Care but this is not a requirement.

Co-Responder - Fire service car crewed by a firefighter and sent to medical emergencies to await paramedics. They are not paramedics and cannot be trained in critical care.

JRU: Joint Response Unit - Usually a car or van crewed by one or more police officers and one or more paramedics or Mental Health Practitioners. Ideally suited to Road Traffic Collisions, suicidal persons or those having a public and often dangerous mental health episode. In-game, if this vehicle is based at an ambulance station, it's crew (of up to 3) can be trained in critical care, as the game does not identify the crew themselves as police officers or paramedics etc, just that the vehicle can fulfil the role of a police car (without prisoner transport capabilities) and a Rapid Response Vehicle.

GP: General Practitioner (Doctor) - across the UK there are "BASICS" organisations (British Association for Immediate Care) who train and equip GP's to attend serious medical emergencies on blue lights, in order to use advanced life-saving techniques. Often seen at Cardiac Arrests and Serious Injury incidents including Road Traffic Collisions and Falls from height. In-game, they must be trained in "Critical Care" to function.
