What exactly is the point of HEMS any more? They just seem to be used as an (expensive) faster ambulance at this point - No calls/patients seem to be requiring them at all?

Depends how you play. For me they are a faster critical care response for rural locations.
-
For me they are some of my only critical care crews. Like I only have HEMS, HEMS RRVs and GPs Critical Care (I have added a couple of critical care ambulances in areas where response times are way to high.
-
So, they're actually just faster ambulances then? No other purpose?
That's a shame with how expensive they are, since not everyone plays realistically, so the faster response time isn't much different for us. My ambulances are faster sometimes lmao. -

That's fine - Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Sucks for my lost cash already, but useful for the future
-
You do get paid I think quite a get more for flying paitents
-
That's a good point.
So they give more credits & are faster transports.. (Not faster for the arrival cus patients need ambulances anyway)
Thanks

I personally like that HEMS isn’t a requirement but an option. In real life sometimes HEMS isn’t available and they just have to get on with it. I use HEMS for the most serious cases often in conjunction with Trauma Resources like advanced paramedics with critical care training to add to the realism. But they’re also really useful for calls in rural areas. Sometimes some of my calls are 20+ minutes away from an advanced paramedic or other critical care resource

Personally before I hated calls requiring hems especially if I had a AP/HEMS rrv already o/s

Ye I agree. I also have my helicopters set to only daylight hours and the HEMS RRV at night so it was annoying to get HEMS requirements in the night cause realistically I wouldn’t be able to

What is worse is when a mass cas call needs hems and CC and tnw helicopters don't treat the paitents that need them

That's actually pretty realistic.
At most major incidents, the first HEMS resource (or MERIT if you prefer) are going to fill command functions. JESIP is light on the role of HEMS specifically, but when doctors turn up the priority would normally be to get an MA and CCS Medical Lead in place before actually using a HEMS team as a treating resource in the CCS.
