Person Locked in House

  • Why does this call require the fire service? Fire service wouldn't be sent for this because it's just not an emergency. Plenty locksmiths operate an emergency service thing anyway so it's not necessary. Just my thoughts.

P.S. I found a fire service document and it says an L2 officer should go to a late fire call instead of a pump.

I disagree - someone locked out of their house may call a locksmith, but someone locked in may need to get out for an emergency or be locked in a room upstairs etc, and the fire service are called out for these incidents.

Just because you've read a fire service document doesn't make you an expert on the calls. All services are likely to have slightly different policies with who to send and why, and Level 2 fire officers may well be watch managers and therefore may travel with the pump instead of their own car. Maybe leave the fact-checking to the content advisors who do know what they're talking about and put a lot of hard work in for free to make the game as realistic as possible based on the UK as a whole?

But the call says person Locked Out where you would call a locksmith but locked in ya maybe but that's not the name of the call the name is locked out

The mission specifies locked out of house. If it was someone locked inside a house I could maybe see an emergency response for that though I highly doubt it.

And as for the late fire call, I probably shouldn't have added that since that's gonna make this thread go so very much off topic, but, the document was national guidelines for PDAs and I find it'd be more likely that a officer takes his car instead of an entire pump going which could jeopardize fire cover in the area. Although, this should probably be taken elsewhere.

  • What about if you've been locked out of your house and your oven is on, food is on the hob cooking, there's an open fireplace? Would there not be risks associated with these that would prompt for a response quicker than a locksmith? I'll leave you to have a think a little bit outside the box as you may even think of things I haven't considered in this post.

  • I would like to see this document that you mention as there are as far as I’m aware no national guidelines for PDA’s and it’s service specific depending on resources available and location. Yet again a small call gets added because people moan that it’s only big calls and then people go out of their way to find fault. It’s starting to get pretty tiring as we seem to spend a lot of our own time working on things for people to only criticise.

Is this a call that the fire service should respond too? That’s a debate for somewhere else. Is this a call that the fire service DO respond too? Yes it is.

I think this idea that the community moans about changes is a bit ignorant, I don't personally mind this call- but at the end of the day, people were just criticizing it. You can't have a game without community criticism.

  • Perhaps just use a little imagination with the call name. Sure, in reality, not every case of somebody being locked out (or in) is an emergency, but this game is about emergencies so let's just assume that call takers are generating these calls for us as if they are genuine. There are many other minor calls in the game which in real life won't [always] get treated as emergencies.

In fact, within the UK, the fire service have a much stronger legal position and ability to force entry into a property than the police service do. They are also trained better and with better equipment for it. I know in my local area the fire service attend the majority of this type of call instead of police.

I admitted my mistake. There was no need for another response. Criticism should be expected in an environment like this, you can't please everyone. I was merely expressing my opinion.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with criticism. Without it nothing improves, there just seems to be very little positive feedback coming out about things and a lot of negative which when you end up giving up hours and hours of your time to try and work on things completely destroys your morale to carry on doing so.

I meant to add on to my post in a reply to something you put SainsburysVan . You mentioned officer only calls, this is something I would like to see added as it would enable a much wider variety of calls. For example during major flooding events etc, often an Officer will respond due to the high volume of calls to almost triage it and see if it needs a higher response. Unfortunately however, for some reason the game has been coded to require either a fire engine, police car, or ambulance to attend and you can’t send specialists units alone. However, this is on my list to try and get reworked in the future 👍

Wow that's really annoying how ot has to have one of the 3 Units

  • Tell me about it. About 8 months ago I designed a small mission pack. It contained about 8 missions, all of which were 1 officer missions. Ended up having to be binned because of this feature. It’s been in the game since day 1 (on all versions) and seems like it would/will be hard to remove.

Tbh I really like the mission pack idea especially the RTC one a while back. The trc one was done amazing and has some of my favourite and more realistic missions to the UK.

Could these missions work using something like 'Fire officer can replace fire engine' as some missions can have the pump replaced with an RSU.

if I had made 8 missions just for it to be binned I would be really annoyed. Takes alot of creativity to make missions (more then I have) :D ddefo needs to be reworked
