For anyone who has hems - what can you do with it and is it worth the cost?

Using hems

Its a million to place the helipad, a million for each additional expansion and 300k for each helicopter plus training and downtime for personnel.

Absolutely not worth it unless you want to play realistic. It's fast to get on scene, but then requires an ambulance anyway.
You get a couple hundred extra credits for patient treatment I think, unless they removed it.
Definitely not worth the 1.3m
-
Agreed with Scotty, not worth it unless you have a surplus in cash and want to spend, or unless you wanna play realistic (even then it would be my utter most last priority)

Odd, i can send HEMS to jobs out in the middle of nowhere and do not require an ambulance?

Might be on some missions only then (maybe depending on patient codes?), but every time I've gone to use a HEMS the patient has asked for an ambulance too.

Hi on the US version the game doesn't need a road unit on the UK game it does if the UK game didn't need a road unit then it would be way more worth it

But then who would carry the bags?

But then who would carry the bags?
The same people who carry them from the helicopter.. The medics/doctors on board.

To be fair, it’s very rare that HEMS would ever be the only thing on scene. It might beat the land ambulance there, but the lane crew would get there eventually.
I’d love to say this will be changed but this has been an ongoing battle since launch of the UK game. We may have to look at this from a different angle as a team

That's fair, it just generally makes it useless in the game haha. I personally thought it was better when patients required HEMS treatment, but that was removed.

It was changed as PTs require critical care treatment, this is provided by HEMS either by air or road.
I have an idea of another way we could put it towards the DEVs at some point, I'll submit it with my next round of missions.

Yeah, it makes sense in the overall "realism" etc aspect.. But does make the unit rather expensive for little to no use. Would be interesting if we can get it incorporated somehow else

HEMS can be used to transport coastal patients. With the limited amount of Coastal Helicopters per station, HEMS can be an alternative transport. Note the HEMS will not count as a coastal helicopter, only transport. Both helicopters will transport the patients directly to a Hospital rather than to a coastal rescue station needing additional ground transportation to a hospital.
Wrong section of the forum, this is related to UK
