• The CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System) converts tank water into foam used for firefighting. This would be a very useful equipment that can be utilized to equip units with more foam without needing a tanker or trailer to do it. CAFS would be able to be applied to Type 1-7 Engines, Rescue Engines, Quints & Pumper Tankers

not a bad idea as long as it does not become a "required" type of equipment to clear an incident

  • So, ultimately the request is to be able to add the Foam Tank Equipment to

Type 1 Pumpers, Type 2 Pumpers, Type 3 Pumpers, Type 5 Pumpers, Type 6 Pumpers, Type 7 Pumpers, Rescue Engines and Quints?

Note: This is already an available equipment add-on for Pumper Tankers.

Pardon my ignorance, but Type 1, Type 3, rescue engine, pumper tanker, and quints all carry 25 gallons of foam already, correct? Is there a need, short of a major hazmat incident, to have that much foam onsite IRL? I'd rather send either a foam tender or trailer to anything that needs a lot, but I'm in an alternate universe with my setup.

yes that could be an alternate to my idea that would work, but the CAFs system would be x amount of water = x amount of foam. id be happy with either or but foam tank equipment i think of actual tanks no a foam system. which ever the devs are more likely to add, id be happy with both to get more foam equipped trucks.

  • But as mentioned by DGsmith67 Certain Engines already have foam, so they already have Foam capability. Why muddy the waters with CAFS?

many places have a shortage of foam tenders, they are not too commonly typically only 1 or 2 in the average major city, some large industrial complexes have them but smaller industrial sites typically have Chemical or Foam engines, these are just engines that have CAFs to turn their tank into foam. in most of America foam tenders are not the most common thing, CAFS would allow average departments to handle the random CBNR calls that MC likes to give.

  • Just my input. LA County Fire purchased roughly 5 CAFs engines. I made them pumper tankers and just added the foam equipment to it. It would remove the point of having purchasable equipment if you could add it to every vehicle in the game. And you aren't going to do much with 25 gallons of foam anyway, if thats what you want added.

Now on the other hand, these CAFs engines were disabled by the county and are now just regular engines.

CAFS doesn't convert your water tank into foam. It operates very similarly to a traditional foam injection system, the big difference being rather than using an aerator tip at the end of a hose line, air is injected into the discharge via compressor prior to entering the hose line resulting in finished foam in the line. I don't think this is really a necessary addition to the game, but I understand where you were coming from. I think the Foam Tender is adequate to achieve what you're looking for.
