I just started SF after finishing Santa Clara and San Jose. I'll get back once I have more info. I believe they have contracts with private ambulance providers. They only have "MCU's" which aren't really MCU's but...
Try searching google maps for them.
We have in the SF region,
King American ambulance service
Pro Transport
NorCal ambulance
AMR
and surprisingly SFFD themselves
those are the ones I found with a quick search on google. Here is the link to the official ambulance providers list; https://www.sfdph.org/dph/comupg/ose…m-providers.asp I am not sure where the SFFD ambulances are stationed. Maybe all at that station 49 but idk. Also, they do have a real MCU, the other MCU is a light rescue, "rescue 5," that assists in building collapses and trench rescues. I would not fret too much about how many ambulances there are at each station. What you need to know is what each station has, ALS or BLS ambulances. You don't need to even buy BLS' I just name them, "Pro-Transport 81-BLS 1" or whatever. You can find a little chart of it at the bottom of that website. I also know south san fran owns 2 ALS' and 1 BLS ambulance.
If you want a reference put in the addresses given on that website above to find the locations of the stations. You can put them into google and look on maps to get a good reference of how many units there are. Don't worry about it too much. https://www.google.com/maps/place/130…!4d-122.3873382 That would be the link to the AMR station. Otherwise, if you are lost at a medical station just add ambulances to the fluctuation of MC.
Hope this helps!
This topic may or may not need to be moved to off-topic, I dunno.
Thank you for the reply
the only reason I didn't know what was in SFDPH was because I live in the UK and it was blocked for me.
SFFD, King American and AMR are the only 911 providers in the city of San Francisco operating ALS units. There are multiple BLS companies in the area that operate as transport services for hospital transfers and such.
SFFD EMS is based out of Station 49 and Post/Patrol through the city between calls. King American and AMR each have their own respective operations buildings and operate the same. All 3 are dispatched by SF Fire Dispatch
