Alliance Welcome Message

  • I would like to suggest a welcome message that is sent to a new alliance members inbox. The welcome message could be edited by the alliance administration so that important information about making sure the new member knows about certain rules, policies, and to read the alliance forums.

  • What's stopping you from doing that by yourself? I'd rather get a message from someone of the alliance then a stupid 'bot' sending me some default message i will ignore anways.
That's not how you welcome users and please don't tell me it's too much effort to welcome the new guy by copy pasting that message you've already written.

What is the problem with sending the message by hand. I'd rather get in touch with the alliance staff then a bot.
In my opinion it's not how you should welcome users, i think it's better to send a template to the user by myself.

Theres absolutely nothing stopping anyone from doing it the way you mentioned. But as I stated it would be a customizable message from an administrator. You're correct it's not hard to copy and paste a message but that would be the exact same thing as what I am suggesting just minus the copy and paste part. Plus when you receive many new members at one time or have to do it multiple times a day, it gets very old very fast having to do that over and over again. It's better to get some kind of welcome message as a new member then nothing at all. We also welcome each new members with a welcome message in our alliance chat when they are accepted.

And on a personal note this is just a suggestion, I understand that everyone has their opinions but the way your statement was worded, it seems as though you are bashing me and calling me lazy. I'm not saying that is what you are meaning by the post, just saying that's how it reads.

    tl;dr
If it's in the name of an admin and that specific message would be the same as if you'd send it by yourself, then it could be something helpful.

My intention was not to bash you, sometimes my wording isn't the best (soz, i am not a native speaker - seems like i thought too german while writing that). I am going to reword that last post. Sorry again.

For me the suggestion sounded like a automatic bot without connection to a username, which is not really nice in a game like this (form an ux perspective, since there is no contact person behind that). As well as sending those automatic messages feels like the alliance staff would not care about their members/community. It does sometimes cost some effort to keep an alliance running.

This would be a function that not everyone would use.

    From a developers perspective:
Why would you implement something that's only being used by 10% of the user base? It's quite an amount of effort for something that could be done way easier without that automatic message at all. Why 10%? Well it can be more or less, but ask yourself those questions:

    • How many people are in an alliance?
    • How many of those do really care about the alliance and are not joing
    • How many of these admins are actually sending out messages to the users at all?
    • How many of these users are even going to read those inbox messages?
    • How many users are going to react based on that message?

I could go on with that list, but in the end most people do not care. Most users which really intend to join an alliance, read the welcome/info section of them. Some even go ahead and read the rules before they join. Therefore i do not really see any point in getting this into the game, since there is more downsides to this (in my opinion).
