Hey all...
In order to make gameplay a little more realistic I was thinking of allocating proper call sign to my vehicles. Where I´m from a call sign would look like this : 83/41-4 with the first number designated to the location (Borough/District/County or the latter), the second telling you which kind of vehicle it is and the third which number of similar vehicles...Now I know in the US and probably Canada too, you guys have a totally different system-I have, however not yet found any reference as how it works on google...can you help me out here ?

Every system is different. For example, St. Louis County, Missouri uses a system where the first 2 digits represent the department, the 3rd is the Station number (with “0” indicating a Command Officer and “9” indicating reserve units or special units), and the 4th is the type of unit, based on the following scale:
0: Engine
1: Engine
2: Quint
3: Tanker
4: Rescue-Engine
5: Tower Ladder
6: Heavy Rescue
7: Ambulance
8: Brush
9: Special/SupportLet’s look at 2212 for example. 22 represents the Monarch Fire Protection District, 1 for Station One, and 2 for a Quint. My department starts with 5 (or technically “05”), so 544 is our Rescue-Engine at Station 4, 523 is our Tanker at Station 2, and 516 is our Heavy Rescue at Station 1.
Ottawa County, Michigan uses a similar system, but the 3rd and 4th digits are flipped from St. Louis County, and the “unit digit” means different things, so the first 2 are Department identifiers, the 3rd is the Unit, and the 4th is the Station number. Units are classified as follows:
0: Firefighter
1: Engines under 750 gpm
2: Engines over 750 gpm
3: Special/Support
4: Ladders
5: Special/Support
6: Tankers
7: Rescues/Medic SUVs
8: Brush
9: Command OfficersSo 1121 is the Holland Fire Department’s (“11”), Engine (“2”) at Station 1 (“1”), 671 is the Zeeland Township (“06”) Heavy Rescue at Station 1, and 1461 is the Jamestown Township Tanker at Station 1.

Thank God u lot have such a small amount of vehicle types/variations...there´s hundreds over here ...is the number for the engines still the same,, regardless of it being "type 1" or "type 2" though ?
-
Yes sir. In St. Louis Engines are only split between Rescue-Engines and standard engines, and in Ottawa County they are split based on pumping capability.
