The devs have agreed that the POI system needs overhauling. What this may entail I’m not sure
The problem comes with pulling vast amounts of data. It’s not just a small area of the world, the game will have to pull data from the entire world
The Devs are looking to include the open maps poi's that are native in the map. The current system does not use it but apparently they plan on adding it.

As TACRfan says a system needs to be developed to stop POI providers receiving millions of requests for POIS from players.
Read in a few places that there was a script to generate POI's that has since been disabled apparently due to server load.
So, those post script have to do it one by one as I am assuming those that were able to use prior still got to keep the generated POI's.
Has a suggestion been put up to the Dev's to have them already included in game? Have them essentially run it once over all versions of the game & then let players add their own if needed/wanted?
The POI generator script was disabled as it used too many times and used up the allocated free requests so it would have been expensive to keep running
