Or just have it togglable. I like it like that, because then I know I need to look at it.
Remove green 'notification' for pending alliance applications

One thing that annoys me is that when a new member applies to an alliance, the icon at the top of the page remains green until all applications have either been accepted or denied. This is particularly annoying for admins or co-admins such as myself who are not allocated to recruitment duties. I'd rather see the notification when there's a forum message or news for the alliance which is something in my role I might need to deal with more.
My suggestion is to have the green notification cancel when the user reviews the player, or have it only 'light up' green where it says "New Applicants" in the drop down menu. I can provide images or further explanation if I'm not clear.
I'd allocate yourself to recruitment duties if they're not being sorted quickly enough for your liking. I prefer the current system as it generically shows there is an outstanding thing that has to be done.

Keep it how it is, as it reminds you that there is a member pending

I'll be honest, it's probably something I'll get used to and is a very isolated issue. It's been a while since I've had an admin position; I remember it being annoying the first time around but I can't remember if I just accepted it was there and ignored it.

It shouldn't be annoying at all, It's reminding you that people are interested in your alliance.

As I said, I'm not dealing with applications, nor am I authorised to. I appreciate people want to join the alliance but that's not the point of what I was trying to say. Potentially the application has been dealt with on our side but the applicant is maybe slow to respond.

Right, now you see a better solution would be an inbuilt application form, which would have to be filled out before said player would apply.
After that, it is down to your alliance to then quickly accept/reject as necessary. -

Now THAT I like the sound of.
A form for the applicants that they fill in, and the admin can customize the questions to suit them.
