Heavy Air Tankers

I am a little lost or, I am thick, I have just purchased 2 of these beasts and dispatched them to a major wildfire. The Fire calls for 7 Pumps. The HAT arrive on the scene and complete the required water volume yet I still have to send 7 Tankers, what am I missing?

Its the way the mission was written, there's a vehicle component and a water requirement. You've only satisfied the water requirement.

Thanks Katnip , So would the 7 Tankers also cover the water component in the mission? or sometimes does it require more water than Tankers asked for?

I am confused as to the purpose of the HATs

Dependent on which vehicle you send they will cover all or at least most of your water requirement. It might pay to familiarise yourself with the types of vehicle available to you and how much water they carry. For example a water tanker needs 3 personnel but carries 3,000 gallons of water, but a pumper tanker ( which would cover both requirements in this instance) needs 6 personnel but only carries 2,500 gallons. HOWEVER if you have the airport extensions and the ARFF training & crash tender vehicles they need only 2 personnel and carry 4,500 gallons and will cover both requirements. So its up to you what combinations you send to meet your requirements

as a side note - the HAT will help speed up the completion a little
