One of my stations I will be creating has a Squirt. Basically an Engine with a boom on it. Would you guys use a Quint or just a Type 1 Pumper for it?
Needing an opinion on unit for "Squirt"

It depends whether you need it for its aerial capabilities or not.
-
That's what I'm trying to figure out. My county doesn't have too many Squirts nowadays.
-
Do they use it for aerial rescue or just firefighting?
-
If it's just a telesquirt isn't it just capable of water? If so if you want to play to the capability I would just use an Engine as it wouldn't have the ladder capability like a Quint. Though, if you don't have quints anywhere in your system you could consider replacing the squirts with quints for the purpose of the game.

To my knowledge the booms are just used for firefighting. Two companies I know that use them also have a Tower or Quint as well.
-
Then I’d just use them as engines
-
Okay thanks!
You have my curious though. How else are booms used?
-
-
Defo would use them as quints!
-
Yeah I would consider those units quints.
-
I understand, those are called snorkels, not squirts. Some people get them confused. If his county uses squirts (no aerial capabilities) I would play them as engines.
-
This is one of the units I've debated on what to use as. The other is Squirt 1011, Same basic use.
Squirt 3133: 1991 Pierce Squirt
Primary Use - Initial attack truck for in town structure fires
Pump - 1250 gpm
Water - 750 gallons
Foam - 100 gallons, akron and feecon systems
Seats - Driver, officer, 4 firefighters
Boom - 54 ft articulated -
Play it as an engine as far as I’m concerned.
-
Okay thanks!

I would use them as Quints. They serve one of the purposes that regular aerial appliances do and that's firefighting from above. No, they don't have rescue capabilities but there is no reason why you can't make the decision on what calls to send it to depending on scenario. If it's a stuck climber, for example, then it's not suitable but it would be suitable for an industrial fire or high rise fire. I suspect it has a camera on the boom too so could be useful for surveying without the need for someone in a basket.
