Training Class Specialist

  • It is so great to see that we are using the training academy so much more I was afraid that we wouldn't see anymore special training added to the academy but as I see there will be Aircraft Rescue Firefighting added to the list which really is awesome to see. I know this may be a far stretch for most of the people here but I was wondering if we would be able to add down the road possibly a training for Technical Rescue.

Technical Rescue training is very important and should be required. The type of calls for this type of training would be the following

    Structural Collapse
    Confined Space
    Trench Collapse
    Mountain Rescue
    Water Rescue

I look forward to all the feedback and appreciate the opportunity to be here and be bale to voice ideas and suggestions. Thank you

  • The way that training classes are built into the game is that personnel need the training to be assigned to the unit. Their presence on scene doesn't make a difference.

To put it in an example: You've got one unit at a station, hazmat unit (Hazmat 1). You've got three people at the station (Stephen A., Hannah Q., and Mia W.). Stephen and Hannah have been through the training, so they can utilize Hazmat 1 and Hazmat 1 can respond to a call. Mia doesn't have the training, so she can't respond. The game only puts the people that have the training on the unit. They're responding to a Dangerous Goods Truck Accident which requires a hazmat. The only thing that the mission cares about is whether or not the hazmat unit is there. It could have one person on it, or it could have six people on it. The mission doesn't care, and will get completed as long as the unit is present.

Why did I type all this up? Because the game isn't currently built for the personnel to affect the mission. This means that if you want a training course to be required for a mission, you need the "middleman," a unit for the trained personnel to utilize. While I like the suggestion of adding a tech rescue class, I'm not sure how we can use it.

Do we require the training to use Heavy Rescues? I don't like that, as the heavy rescue is the third required unit in the game. Compared to the other training required units (hazmat - 11 firehouses, mcv - 13 firehouses, SWAT - 8 police stations, police aviation - high credit barrier), it requires it very early. Building a training center is cost-prohibitive for people at that early level, and they might not be in an alliance that's a good fit yet.
Do we implement USAR and require tech rescue there? No, cause USAR would likely have its own training.

So what unit do we put it on?

  • Hmm while I didn't think of things that far Gavin and I appreciate the feedback. I will give this further consideration and report back with a better outline. Again thank you for replying back.

  • Adding a USAR unit to those calls and replacing a rescue on it would work. There have been suggestions about adding a USAR into the game but in the same sense, you can just rename and designate certain rescues as USAR and send them instead of a typical rescue.

Sounds like in order to have a speacilize Tech Rescue training, a USAR unit would have to be added into the game and dispatched in place of a rescue on those calls. That would cover any kind of land based rescue. You would need a marine unit (boat) for swift, surface and dive rescue incidents.
