Large Missions all in same area?

  • Does anyone else experience this?

It feels like the game constantly clusters resource-intensive major incidents in a relatively small area, forcing me to draw resources from far afield, leaving areas without cover; Meanwhile other areas either get hardly anything, with only the odd small mission which can't be covered bc all the units are in at the MI.

The area the cluster is in seems to rotate at least daily.

Also just had a "Train Station Fire (Large)" in a town that doesn't even have a railway line, nevermind a station smh  & i dont have a POI there either so why it spawned there is beyond me

  • Often for me atleast its the areas with almost entirely just one pump stations and trying to get recources down there is a bog - they never seem to happen in huge cities with several units and able to cover with only a few additional units form sorrounding areas but not leaving those other areas without cover

  • This inconvenience is to force/encourage you to buy coins and build/create resources. I am in a country that is spread out of about 1400 miles and I get jobs that require specialist equipment that is too far to even dispatch directly to I have to build staging areas halfway to the event to get the equipment on-site, some jobs take about 6 hours real time to complete lol

If you add the foam specialty to stations and then have this generate calls will get good industrial jobs in the central city or industrial areas. I worked in our country's largest city and we used to get massive working jobs in the industrial areas, so have foam-equipped extensions with all these stations. Makes it semi real.

  • You're probably not doing it right (sorry). As you start to expand, you need to look at your set up critically, and start moving your resources around.

For instance, if you start building a city and have 30 stations within a tight cluster, you might have 10 HAZMAT units across them.

Then, you expand out into "the country" and build another 10 stations, but across the same geographical area.

Logically, you now need to move half your HAZMAT units out to these new stations, to have the same coverage (or alternatively, build 10 new HAZMAT units)

I like to play IRL ("in real life") - but there is a limit to that. I built the real-life units at the real-life stations, but then add new units where required.

The heatmap in LSSM is brilliant for this!

EDIT: changed typo of "unit" to "station"

  • I know I could have more recesources and I know where they are needed but thats no fun in my mind, I prefer to struggle for major calls

  • It's not so much that - my area is a mostly rural area, and stations often cover a large area. I play as realistically as i can, but many of the stations (irl) only have 1 appliance, so yes I add an extra pump at some of these or the odd hazmat & WrC dotted kind-of strategically around. but its more that the missions are disproportionately generated in an area.

Just earlier I had a station in the middle of nowhere with 1 pump generate 3 missions - 2 of which were 8+ appliance incidents - within minutes of each other - requiring units from 20-30+ mins away needing to be called. Now IRL 30 mins is perfectly reasonable - but 2 large missions like that in such a remote location is less so reasonable... meanwhile I have mainly smaller calls in the city which as 3 stations :S.

Add onto this that there's only 1 HART base in the whole region, that puts it right on the far edge of my current playing area, then I'm usually left waiting around for up to 45 Mins for a PRV & SRV to arrive.

IRL you'd be very unlikely to have as many large incidents at the same time as you get in the game.

But I guess it adds to the strategy & planning side of the game.

Hey mate. I think you misunderstood :-) I prefer to struggle too - which is why i move the specialist units around once I've added more stations.

I never add more appliances unless I have

    a) done all my transports, AND

    b) there is a job awaiting a specialist appliance that I don't have free, because all of them are on other jobs.
