Are Coast Guard vessels for open-water rescues (thus why you set the spawn area in an open water zone)

So what’s the difference for water rescue and coastal rescue expansions in fire stations?

Also I see a small coastal boat in my water rescue expansion. Does that act as both types of boats? (Light boat and small coastal boat) And Without the coastal expansion those calls won’t generate, correct?

Maybe because they're not the same. One is for coastal missions and the light boat isn't.

when the coastal rescue was introduced into the game. The small coastal boat was listed in the blue text box on the unit buy screen as being dual purpose.

Based on that information and the 50k cost of the small coastal boat we requested that swift water rescue training be added to the coastal academy

Which our feedback was taken to the devs and they added the swift water rescue training to the coastal academy

Having seen this I did just send a small coastal boat to a mission that required lightboat, when the small coastal boat arrived at the mission it wasn’t counted as a lightboat.

So maybe it is something that is going to be looked at are is already known about as I am sure they wouldn’t have added the swift water rescue training to the coastal academy if it wasn’t going to be needed

I am getting my problems solved one at a time. This is a great game and I really appreciate the help that I get, makes it so much more enjoyable.

Large Fireboats..... I bought a few and put them on the big lake, they never got used or requested so I thought maybe they needed to go into the ocean so I moved them over to the Atlantic and built up a couple of stations and again, they never got used. I had them trained in Ocean Navigation but still nothing. Do they actually get used? How so? Thanks again for all of your help.

Yes you do once the requirements have been met. Here are the requirements for a few of the missions for the fire boats
