If you want a challenge you could put most of your units out of service and make a few of them run around
Been there done that my friend. Not my cup of tea
I'll take longer dispatch times and specialty unit limits anyday.

If you play realistically like for the FDNY u only have two hamazt units for 200+ stations so thats a challenge in itself.I think that police stations should be able to have hazmat and heavy rescues due to a lot of departments run the hazmat operations for the county and i know of a few departments that have heavy rescues

Doesn't NYPD have their ESU? As far as for SWAT, Rescue and whatnot Etc

yes NYPD has ESU and they run rescues, hazmat, swat, decon and maybe dive teams not sure on that, but i have a county that the fire department does not run the hazmat the sheriff department does so it does make it feel less realistic
I can see where you're coming from here. Our county fire departments handle all rescue services, Hazmat etc.
Why not just have the restriction of having to be a captain before purchasing an engine tanker? They're so infrequently used in missions that it would provide a chance for the possible missions to be expanded for rural style areas.
I am a little confused about your post here. You say you want it to be expanded to rural style areas and get an engine "tender" as a unit. How many tenders do you see out there that also have COMPLETE pumping capability as an engine as well. In my area at least I only know of one and every fire department in my area has 1, some have 2, and some have 3 tenders, but a tender engine combo is rare. if that makes sense? Rural areas is where a tender is more likely used then a big city. Big cities don't have much of a use for them as they have a water supply system often already in place.
We have rescue ambulance on a list of potential future updates. We can revisit the idea of wild land firefighting, although bulldozers and fire helicopters are primarily west coast assets in the United States
I do think that bulldozers are used all over the US By the USFS. Not just in California. Thought I'd point it out so it could find at least maybe some functionality for big wildland fires, have a USFS fire station with a delayed response time. All my area is covered by a couple USFS fire fighters so it takes them time to get where they are called to with their trailer and equipment.
I see your point about Tankers being used more in rural areas but I've noticed there are quite a few rural areas, towns, and communities that have no hydrants and close by mutual aid companies within a 10 minute response time that use Pumper Tankers instead of Tankers themselves. It's more common than you think.
As well I know about three or four companies including the dept in my town, and my older company I ran with using a Tanker not just for water supply but also to put out brush fires itself and assist as an engine with a 2 man team if no other truck is available.
Like I said, It's more common than you think. The majority of companies in my county that are in rural and far out areas are starting to get rid of their Tankers for Pumper Tankers themselves.
Forgive me if I don't use the word "Tender". I cringe when hearing, reading, and saying this. Lol. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth
I was brought up with the word "Tanker". Even though my state uses Tanker as a plane filled with water.
Not a fan of "Tender" either
Tanker sounds much better
Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one!
Been thinking. If Sebastian doesn't, create the Pumper Tanker then atleast allow the Tanker to help out more and act as an Engine but by half the response time of putting fires out until an Engine arrives on scene.
This would be somewhat of a challenge if the Tanker puts fires out slower since the Engine has more crew than a Tanker. A two or three man crew is a big difference from a six man crew.
The Pumper Tanker would have the manpower to assist on a call but if the Tanker were allowed to act as an Engine than this would lower the response time. Either way if the Pumper Tanker were not to be implemented, then atleast see if Sebastian would consider allowing the Tanker to be used more like I stated above.

The tanker has the same amount of crew as a type 2 engine... I guess you forgot some people buy type 2 engines

Oh I know that. Didn't forget. I was just saying if the Engine Tanker was not to be made then make the Tanker work as an Engine but on a slower rate. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
I use Type 2's myself. My point was on the Tanker. Type 2's I use as Brush Trucks and Mini Pumpers.
Another type of Unit I'd like to see is a Police Chief/Sgt/Supervisor. Just like the Fire Command there should be some sort of Police Command.
maybe this engine/tanker combine could be made like the MCU only available say after 20-25 fire station and limit them to 3 or 5 per person this take away the easyness of the game and makes people work towards it.
limit it to 1 per 20 stations that would be a good idea make it a challenge
limit it to 1 per 20 stations thats ok i get 30 thats fine
You know not everything is about you though right?
yup i do
This is a group discussion guys
I was thinking along every 5-10 stations but every 20 sounds a little but more challenging and not too easy at all.
If we made Engine/tankers limited based on station number, why wouldn’t we do the same for rescue/engines and Quints? This is a genuine question. I’m not saying we will, but theoretically all three units fall in the same category. What makes one more specialized than the other?
This is a good question. Maybe the RE and Quint should be limited or should have been.
Just trying to find things we can sacrifice to compromise with.
Plus, Engine Tankers would be a nice addition. If Sebastian is worried it would be too easy for combination units he could always take all combination units and lower their response times. Idk just trying to think of anything. You play as well, We could use your ideas too lol.
According to Sebastian it would make the game too easy so in that aspect make it harder to get this certain unit maybe make it available to Staff Captain and above

Yes! I like the idea of a ranking award system!
