What does the ems chef actually do/can it do?
Vehicle info.... Again

The EMS Chief is required on mass casualty incidents involving 10 or more patients
-
So it just has the one purpose of being required for a call?
I feel like some of the vehicles could defiantly be overhauled and have more of a purpose.
I mean don't get me wrong i really enjoy the game, i actively play upwards of 12 hours a day typically, but maybe some attention should be redirected to suggestions for improvement. -
As A Fire Fighter/EMT And A Member of multiple levels of incident command, I could Volunteer Opinions and suggestions from a real world perspective.

You could argue that the battalion chief serves little purpose as they don't fight fires. You can add as many or as few as you'd like to give yourself an extra challenge when allocating units to calls.
-
It's not the intended purpose of the unit, it's the usage. The BC is required on a fast amount of calls and rightfully so. The EMS Chief has a few calls ,if that, to where they are required. Overdoses, Cardiac Arrest, Trauma alerts, Structure fires to act as safety, accountability, etc . could be things they could be utilized for. My gripe is the game requires the EMS Chief but has little usage for it at the moment.
But I agree with OP. There could be a revamp of how the units function/are needed. Maybe even with a new developer, we could push for better combo units as well.

I have like 8 EMS Chiefs, and it's not enough and I usually have to follow them up. I don't fancy sending more Chiefs to smaller calls haha

Hey guys, So I Was wondering if you have to buy the res. engine and quint with coins or if it gives the price once your a captain?
-
Once you reach the rank of captain, you can choose to purchase them with credits instead of using your coins
-
Oh Thank you jesus lmao.
I Was well on the way to being upset if you had to pay to get enough coins to staff stations with those trucks. -
I would love to see the EMS chief and BC become interchangeable. In most areas of the U.S., "ems chiefs" don't exist. Would also love to see swat suvs and k9s able to respond to standard police calls, not transport but able to act as a secondary officer. They are totally useless unless there is a specific call requiring them.

K9 can respond to standard police calls

Well that's great to know. The EMS chief is still a big issue. They count as paramedics on a call I noticed, but don't actually start patient triage. That makes no sense.

The intention for the unit was to be a sort of co-ordinator for ambulance resources on a scene. Their role is to manage patients rather than treat them - which is the job of the ambulance crews. I'm not 100% sure how it works in the US but in the UK, our OTLs (operational team leader (can go by different names)) don't count as "pairs of hands" like an ambulance crew or response vehicle would.

Typically in the US, the EMS Captain/Supervisor/Chief is the senior medic on shift. They usually can perform specialized patient care/carrying equipment that the normal medics aren't allowed to do/carry. Additionally, they would be in charge of the EMS reports and quality improvement/assurance as well as EMS training that is on shift. They are essentially a BC for the EMS side of things. But if it's a large enough call, the BC would typically be in command. For them being the senior medics, it does not make much sense for them to not treat to a certain extent.
