I have an idea for a type of mission which because in real life the lindburg baby was kidnapped in the 30's how does child abduction sound for a mission type this would require SWAT patrol cars and a police helicopter please let me know what you think
Child Abduction

You could also have ambulance on stand by and fire for searching, you could do it as a large scale alliance mission

I'm not American so not obvious, why would SWAT be involved?

SWAT would be involved to get the baby out, hopefully uninjured. In a kidnapping, the victim is usually held hostage, therefore requiring SWAT intervention. The call (realistically) should also require about 4 patrol cars, maybe even more (to help secure the scene), and even probably Mobile Command.

But what skills do SWAT have that a regular officer wouldn't in going inside a building and getting a child?
I was under the impression SWAT were reserved for incidents involving firearms only? Most child kidnapping incidents I've looked at don't involve firearms.

It is preferred to have SWAT sweep a building during any barricaded subject calls, regardless of weapons involved. It is safer for all of the personnel involved. That being said, regular patrol officers don't always wait for SWAT. It just depends on the situation. I don't think SWAT a should be on the initial dispatch for a child abduction; maybe the call should be able to escalate to a barricaded subject call?

I see. What you suggested in the latter part of your post would be a good idea.
-
plus the other thing to look at is unlike Britain and australia in America it is easy to get a firearm and a lot more people have them so more calls will involve a firearm there and less in the other two
-
the child abduction should escalate to barricaded person call

That is a GREAT IDEA!!!
