I agree that this should be included in the standard game.
One option for you is that in LSSM-V.4, under "Extended Alarm Window", you can edit what vehicles show up in each tab, and you can add the type 3 engine to the "Firetruck" tab yourself.

LSSM is a browser script for Chrome that provides visual enhancements to the game on PC.
LSSM will not provide any automatic functions (like dispatching or sending to hospital), but it provides visual enhancements that allows you to maneuver in the game with ease.

I wish this for the pumper-tanker as well. It still gets dispatched as an engine in the ARR, but it isn't in the tab. I can kind of see why the Type 3 isn't as it requires the Wildland expansion.

With LSSM you can set whatever you want in whichever tab (or create your own tab)
For example, I have put both the T3 Engine and the Pumper-Tanker in the "Firetruck" tab
