Will the new rural/urban specialization count as one specialization or can you have that and another specialization at the same time?
New Feature

This feature needs to be bought across to the AU server asap! This is a huge development, and something that is critically needed
-
You can already do this with a type 3 truck on the USA server.

I suspect once it's been tested live on the US server and the bugs worked out, it may well be ported in a very similar format to the other servers as it's a universally useful feature and not country-specific (It would likely take time though as they will have a great many missions to sort through and assign tags of "rural" "urban" or "both" for every server.

I think the question is about station specialisations - not vehicles.

I feel like this new specialization is dumb to pay for as it should just be a click of a button instead of using credits or one across the board fee as it makes no sense to increase it like the other specializations do

Especially since it's a extension designed for use on every station. Increasing cost makes sense on things like forestry, airport etc, as not every station is going to have that specialisation, where as for anyone trying to play realistically, one or the other is basically required for any other non specialised stations. I'd be happy paying 50,000 if it just stayed at that price no matter how many you had, or even if it was a fixed increase (say 10,000 per station from the 5th station.

Feels a Little Like Reinventing the Wheel , if you specialised a station in Forestry (Basically Rural) it only generated those missions , now you can still only have one Specialisation active , and even if you've paid for one , and choose another you have to replay again (okay its only 50k credits but you've already paid it)
so you cant have rural and Forestry etc etc only one or the other

i tend to agree with you... If I wanted to use it for my existing set up it would cost a huge amount to go back.

It's going to cost me $85000000 Million Credits to do all my stations as already I have to pay 350000 per extension, what a Joke, Never going to happen. I wish the devs would listen to the players as this is just a money grab and ads no real value.

I noticed that after purchasing Urban on my battalion 1 how much the price jumped up. I went back through and canceled those 6 station. I'm happy with how my department is set up to spend billions and billions of hard earned credits

Seems the specializations are redundant, especially if you use extensions to allow for both (i.e. fire fighting & wildfire) missions on the same station. Using type 3 engines with those extensions, which can satisfy the requirements for a "first-due" on a structure fire, would accomplish the same thing and would also allow for both types of missions to drop.
Maybe I'm overthinking this... The devs MUST have some grand plan in mind (or have lost touch with reality)...

The way it works (from what I've been able to figure out), is it'll spawn missions that you would find in rural areas (ones with only standard fire engines, no ladder trucks etc), but not just forestry missions, so it's good for players who have realistic setups, and for urban stations, it'll just be urban fires (not things like field fires etc in the middle of the city). It would be an incredibly useful specialisation, if not for the fact that it raises in price so dramatically

I wonder where cat up a tree will fall, it's less than ideal to send a ladder 125 miles to rescue a cat. doesn't happen IRL
-
I would suspect that the changes were added due to complaints about missions spawning where they do not belong such as a high rise fire in the middle of a forest land. Just don't think it turned out quite like we wanted it
If the price stayed the same or didn't increase logarithmically like it currently does, I think that people would be a lot happier. I know I would, and could actually afford to specialise all my stations on the US server, if not now, not far into the future. As it is right now, I can't even work out how much I would have to spend for just my 20 stations. If it stayed fixed at 50,000 I would only have to spend 1,000,000, which is fine by me.

I bought 4 rural extensions and now they're 150k each...not paying that. This is wild

That actually makes some sense , just sucks that you have to pay and wait the 2 days etc when you've already previously paid for say forestry

I think I am paying 400k per expansion after about 10 stations
