it didnt go well not because people didnt like the changes its the fact it changed peoples set ups

In part because they set the headcount max to 10 which became extremely unrealistic.

Its not entirely unrealistic to see 10 on a rig, however you are likely only going to see this on industrial rigs and not on "normal" fire trucks

As i said, unless you are an in an industrial fire brigade that is purposely riding 10 on a rig, you likely will not see it.
If you want a real world example, look at Vestal, NY. They have a rescue with 10 spots on it.
Like I said, extremely uncommon but it exists.

As previously indicated, a few years back this was implemented and it broke many users setups causing issues, which required the devs to roll back the changes.
With that being said, I do not believe they are going to venture and re-do this.

A couple departments around me have 8 man cabs plus jump seats. Or walk in rescues with 4 in the front and 4-6 in the rear.

I really don't understand why it is such a pain to do small changes that would make the game more realistic.

Why? Why not, you are in charge of your play style, be realistic, be crazy, do whatever.
I use platform trucks as 2 passenger cherry pickers for DOT
Someone could use a platform truck as a massive 8-person truck with a crane.
If you want to be realistic, go realistically. If you want to go crazy, go crazy with it.

I think the issue is more that people have had 3 in their tower ladders in game for so long that their setups have become dependent on that number, changing it would cause people to have to hire 3 more for every tower ladder for every station. It would be less of an issue for someone like me who only has 10 or 15 tower ladders, but it would be a major issue for someone with hundreds of them.
